Romans Chapter 2
This posting is part of a Blog Small Group. If you would like to get involved go here. It’s a good way to study scripture and connect with some fellow brothers and sisters on the internet.
I started reading the second chapter in Romans and I couldn’t get any further than the fourth verse. So I did a search through the bible and found some other references that I need to mention. These are by no means all of the references about judging others but these are the ones that are speaking to me. I don’t have much to say about this it’s still soaking in. I will let the scripture below speak for itself.
Matthew 7:1-5
“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.
Matthew 7:1
“Judge not, that you be not judged.
John 7:24
Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.”
Romans 2:3
Do you suppose, O man—you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself—that you will escape the judgment of God?
Romans 2:1-3
Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things. We know that the judgment of God rightly falls on those who practice such things. Do you suppose, O man—you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself—that you will escape the judgment of God?
James 4:11
Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.

I was really struck by Paul’s thoughts on judging others, too.
By “struck” I mean convicted, of course.
I wish I could live the kind of life where I don’t feel the pinch of the Spirit whenever I read about judging others. God help us all grow up in this manner, right?

Nice research on the scriptures, I love that we can all reference different places in the bible that mean more to us than others. I checked out some off Romans scriptures as well, all were different than these above, great job.
