Big Bang test

Scientists are still trying to figure out how the earth was created.

Tests clear way for “Big Bang” experiment

Hey I have some inside information that might help out. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (Gen 1:1) This is the very first line in the bible.

Forgiveness

Forgiveness is a topic that I have been meaning to write about far a long time now.  I am slow to forgive people.  In the past it has been a defense mechanism I used to protect myself.  This was back in the day when I thought I was in control and I was trying to be a self made person.  I used to think if I would shun those that hurt or did me wrong I wouldn’t have to deal with the hurt.  Now I have been forgiven by my Lord for all of my transgressions.  If the Lord can forgive me for the crap I have done I can forgive others for things they might have done.  Not to mention it’s a command from God.  There is no telling how many wonderful people I might have hurt myself or missed a chance to get to know because I was unable to love and forgive them.  Lets see what the bible has to say about this.

Matthew 6

14For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Matthew 18

21Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?”

22Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.[f]

23“Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. 24As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand talents[g] was brought to him. 25Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt.

26“The servant fell on his knees before him. ‘Be patient with me,’ he begged, ‘and I will pay back everything.’ 27The servant’s master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go.

28“But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii.[h] He grabbed him and began to choke him. ‘Pay back what you owe me!’ he demanded.

29“His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, ‘Be patient with me, and I will pay you back.’

30“But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt. 31When the other servants saw what had happened, they were greatly distressed and went and told their master everything that had happened.

32“Then the master called the servant in. ‘You wicked servant,’ he said, ‘I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. 33Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?’ 34In anger his master turned him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed.

35“This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart.”

We’re all in the same sinking boat.

Go to Vagabondrun’s blog to get all of the details and join in.

Have you ever sat at church and thought to yourself that person over there really gets this and they follow all of the rules.  How could I ever reach the level they’re at?  On the other hand have you ever looked down on someone and thought man they are a bad sinner.  I don’t sin that much or I would never do that.  Well I have had all of these thoughts before and I am sorry.  Reading the below passage puts these thoughts into perspective for me.  I want to just kick myself and say hey “There is no one righteous not even one.”  I can’t do enough good stuff to be right with God.  Neither can the person two rows away either.

The sins that I do God see’s as vile and detestable.  He compares our throats to an open grave.  Rotting flesh has to be one of the most vile things ever.  There are also some other references to the mouth much like James.  The words that come out of our mouth is compared to poison.

To follow God’s law is not enough to be declared righteous.  The laws are there so we are conscious of our sins.  We can not save ourselves by following all of the rules.  All men except Jesus Christ have come up short of being perfect.  God’s law is also there to show us how to please him.

This is all stuff I have heard before but this time while reading Romans 3 for this post it has sunk in a little deeper than it ever has before.  I’m not the best writer so my thoughts and sentences are choppy but there is no denying the scripture below.  It’s all that really needs to be said.  Read the scripture and decide for yourself.

Romans 3:9-20 (New International Version)

No One is Righteous

9What shall we conclude then? Are we any better? Not at all! We have already made the charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under sin. 10As it is written:
“There is no one righteous, not even one;
11there is no one who understands,
no one who seeks God.
12All have turned away,
they have together become worthless;
there is no one who does good,
not even one.”
13“Their throats are open graves;
their tongues practice deceit.”
“The poison of vipers is on their lips.”
14“Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.”

15“Their feet are swift to shed blood;
16ruin and misery mark their ways,
17and the way of peace they do not know.”
18“There is no fear of God before their eyes.”19Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. 20Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.
